The thyroid gland is a small organ present at the base of your neck. It produces 3 hormones – T3, T4 and TSH; that help regulate metabolism in the body. Metabolism in the body is linked to weight, sleep cycle and digestion. When metabolism is hampered, these get directly affected.
Hyperthyroidism – This disorder is wherein the thyroid gland is overactive and produces more hormones than required.
Hypothyroidism – This is a disorder wherein the thyroid gland does not produce enough hormones and there is a reduction in metabolic rate. This leads to excessive weight gain, disturbed sleep and improper digestion.
